"小年"用英文怎麼說？

小年被視為春節的前奏，

是我們的傳統節日，

不過，

隨著中西文化的不斷交融，

越來越多的外國人開始喜歡我國的這些傳統節日。

但「小年」在英文中並沒有對應的英文表達。

目前常見的有兩種翻譯：

①little New Year 小年

比如《中國日報》英文版中使用了以下翻譯：

Little New Year (Chinese: Xiaonian), usually a week before the lunar New Year。

「小年」通常在農曆新年前一周左右。

②off year 小年

《漢英大辭典》中，

「off year」是使用最為普遍的翻譯。

比如：

There are many customs in off year.

小年有許多習俗。

Southern people and northern people celebRate off year in different days.

南北方的人們慶祝小年的時間不同。

"虎年"用英文怎麼說？

說到虎年，

是不是tiger year？

在學習「虎年」之前，

我們先來看看，

十二生肖的英文表達：

鼠 Rat牛 Ox虎 Tiger兔Rabbit

龍 Dragon 蛇 Snake 馬Horse羊 Goat

猴 Monkey 雞Rooster 狗Dog豬 Pig

生肖年的正確表達是：

Year of the+動物名：生肖年

所以「虎年」用英語應該說 Year of the Tiger。

比如：

Happy lunar new year of tiger!

"守歲"用英文怎麼說？

守歲

我們知道，

stay up late是熬夜的意思，

「守歲」是指在除夕夜熬夜，

所以我們就用stay up late on the New Year's Eve.

比如：

We have the tradition to stay up late on the New Year's Eve.

我們有除夕夜守歲的習俗。

Children should stay up as late as possible on New Year's eve for it is believed that the later they stay up, the longer their parents will live.

年三十晚上，孩子們應該儘量晚一點再睡，因為人們認為睡得越晚，他們長輩的壽命就越長。
