When I read the questions and comments about India on the Chinese Internet, I think the Chinese do not know Indian people very well. Many people are discussing that Indians use their hands to go to the toilet and eat. Women are always in danger, and the government is too poor to make progress. But I want to share some ideas based on my experience here.

Most of the problems stem from culture shock. When I was in India, I found some things difficult to understand, but not every Indian behaved strangely. But I got these relatively general views from the experience of some Indian friends and colleagues:

1. Indians never speak frankly!

When they say "later", "wait a minute", "next weekend" and so on, you know that this is basically impossible. Even if they put forward a travel plan, you don't know whether they will go until you come to confirm with them at the last moment. They won't tell you they won't go unless you confirm with them several times, because they may change their mind at the last minute, because they can't get up in the morning.

Once I asked my colleague for help, and he agreed, but it was very vague. When I asked him for the third time, I told him that if you don't want to, you can say no. He still said that he would help me, but he would not do so until two months later, when I was about to leave India, when I no longer needed help. They always say they are lazy or have no time, but this gives me a feeling that they really don't want to help.

They told me that it was difficult for them to refuse others. But for the Chinese, if we need to plan in advance, things will become much simpler. Generally speaking, the Chinese will not break their promises. If they have agreed to a plan but cannot go temporarily, we will inform the other party in advance and apologize. The two countries have very different ways of dealing with people.

2. India 5 minutes=1 hour? Half a day? Will it never happen?

They are always late. For work, this depends on the type of company or work culture, but in many cases, lateness usually occurs. The only special late experience I experienced was missing the train.

Perhaps time is more precious in China? I don't like wasting each other's time. In my work, because I doubt whether my Indian colleagues have completed the corresponding tasks, I always need to check the progress one day in advance to ensure the project progress.

3. Dancers in nature, Indians can dance on any occasion.

Personally, I like their dance very much. It's a way to express emotions. Every Indian seems to be a dancer in nature! I had this impression before I came to India. I know it from many Indian movies.

It's hard to understand the implicit Chinese people who don't dance even in clubs, because we think that if you dance in public, you will attract many people's attention. Square dance is very popular in China as a form of exercise for the elderly. But you won't see us dancing for fun at the party. You can try to let Chinese people dance at the party, otherwise you won't even see them in the dancing crowd. But Indians can dance anytime and anywhere. Everyone can dance together at family gatherings, friend gatherings, and colleague office gatherings.

4. Henghe River and eating with hands.

Most Chinese think Indians eat with their hands. But eating by hand seems to be an ancient tradition. Personally, after living in India for a period of time, I fully understand, but it is difficult for my Chinese friends to stop laughing at eating with their hands. Many people eat street food or sometimes do not wash their hands at home. But the problem is, there are too many occasions where you need to eat with your hands because of the characteristics of Indian cuisine. However, it had no effect on their stomachs.

5. Arranged marriage.

This has happened in China, but it is not much now. Chinese people are relatively free to choose their husbands or wives. Parents do not need to spend too much energy to help their children until they feel that their children are incapable.

When my Indian roommate was about to get married, I wanted to know how she ensured that this person was the right person for the rest of her life through some dating. Only then did I know that this was a forced arrangement at home, and she had no choice.

6. Men can use the toilet anywhere, but women have no toilet.

To be exact, I have seen several times in Chandigarh when men were convenient by the wall. But I didn't expect that I would see this in Delhi, or even Mumbai. My friend lives in a poor family in Jaipur, but she can't find a toilet at home. (This is not the case in many other cities, perhaps Jaipur is not so developed.) Although I learned this from the film Toilet later. But this is still surprising to many of my friends.

High caste Indians are very rich. They employ many maids, cooks, cleaning women, etc.

My family was surprised at the good living conditions in my friend's home. This is not common in China because it is too expensive. Cleaning the house is not a big deal for everyone. The family mainly employs a nanny or takes care of the elderly and children, or provides cleaning services once a year. Otherwise, there is no need to hire someone to cook. I was also surprised that some of my Indian friends never wash their own clothes.

8. Motorcycle parade on Republic Day.

My Chinese friends asked me to ask Indians this question, because when this question was put on Chinese social media, it was really interesting for most Chinese people. We do not understand why Indians perform "acrobatics" on this special, important and serious day. In our view, this should be a day to demonstrate military strength.

9. With blankets, people can sleep anywhere.

As far as I can remember, bus stations and railway stations. But at Sri Lanka's airport, people also sleep everywhere, which also shocked me. However, there are homeless people in any country, and it is rare for Indians to go with the flow.

All these have left a deep impression on me and made me think a lot. It may be for personal reasons, so I hope I won't offend Indians here. If you have different opinions, please discuss with me.

India and China have a long history, perhaps the most complex ancient cultural countries. In fact, I really doubt whether the Chinese people know too much about Indians or not. So let's make a statement on each FAQ. I'm sorry to offend anyone, because I just want to state the facts:

Some of the most common problems on the Internet in China:

1. Why can Indian trains carry so many people?

2. Why do Indians seem to dislike China the most?

3. Why do international enterprises set up in so many places in India always seem to be trapped by the Indian government?

4. Why is India's infrastructure construction so bad?

5. Why are Indians so proud of their democracy and opposition to communism, while India's economy is not as developed as that of socialist China?

6. What is the conflict between India and Pakistan and why? What happened?

There are also some things that make Chinese people speechless:

1. What's the significance of dancing and singing in a 3-6 hour Bollywood movie?

In the picture: dozens of soldiers ride a motorcycle, just like in a circus. What does this mean for military development?

3. Rape crimes are too many and often occur. Sometimes the victims may be goats or lizards.

4. Why can a train pass through the market center without fear of accidents?

5. Why do Indians have a unique body odor?

Again, if any of the above offends anyone, I apologize. But I think many of them are prejudices caused by ignorance and arrogance. Frankly speaking, the Indian people are very friendly, hardworking and have a great culture and prosperity in history. But sometimes from the perspective of modern western standards, Indians or Chinese are not good models in many cases. But honestly, who cares, why should anyone be measured by Western values or standards? In fact, I want to go to India to see a lot of things. Although to be honest, I am a little afraid of the rumors of sexual assault on the streets of India. After all, this is not groundless. Maybe I am also the ignorant person.

Greetings to all Indian people.

These are mainly some answers to our Chinese friends.

Yes, Indians eat with their hands. However, they always wash their hands with soap before and after eating. We also gargle before and after eating.

I have never seen any Chinese, European or American wash their hands or gargle before or after eating.

For the above reasons, we Indians find it interesting that the Chinese think they are "cleaner" in their eating habits than we are.

So is the toilet. We wash our hips with water, not cloth, paper, stone or chopsticks. After work, we wash our hands with soap.

In other words, after coming out of the toilet, Indians' buttocks are the cleanest.

We find it interesting that Chinese and Westerners excrete in beautiful white toilets. But when they left the toilet, they were not as clean as Indians!

India is a noisy democratic country. Every Indian has his/her own opinion and they are very careful about their country.

We find it interesting that Chinese people always imagine how good they have become under the current system. It is incredible that they should be proud of their shiny cities and cheap plastic products built with hard labor.

I apologize for any unintentional offense!

Historically, geography has played the biggest role. Due to the Himalayas, it is difficult to pass between China and India. Please remember that the public has been able to travel by air for less than 20 years, but it is still limited to the relatively wealthy class even now.

Therefore, the cultural connection between India and China is weaker than that between India and the Arab world.

In general, Indians have a rather narrow view of other countries, except for the British and American cultures they contact through the common language (English), which is due to some superficial sense of cultural superiority.

"If you despise another culture, you can't really appreciate its essence." This sentence applies to the people of China and India.
