1.below可以用作副詞和介詞。
（1）作副詞用時，below表示「在下面，向下」。副詞below可以修飾動詞，可以作表語，還可以作定語，修飾名詞，但要放在名詞的後面。
The flower garden lies below. 花園在下面。（修飾動詞）
The office is below. 辦公室在下面。（作表語）
I heard someone singing in the room below. 我聽見有人在下面的房間裡唱歌。（作定語，後置）
Please do the exercises below. 請做下面的練習。（作定語，後置）
（2）作介詞用時，below表示「在……以下」，通常表示位置，也可表示數量、等級、能力等。
Please write your name below the line. 請把你的名字寫在這條線的下面。（表示位置）
They passed below the bridge. 他們在橋的下面通過。（表示位置）
Children below ten should not see this film. 10歲以下的兒童不應看這部電影。（表示數）
He is below her in ability. 在能力方面，他不如她。（表示能力）
I am below him in school. 我的年級比他低。（表示等級）

from below意為「從下面」。
Someone is calling you from below. 有人在下面叫你。
2.under是介詞，表示「在……下面，低於」。under引導的短語可以修飾動詞作狀語，也可以作表語或定語，表示位置、狀況、年齡、價格等。
He is standing under a tree. 他正站在一棵樹下。（作狀語）
She studies piano under her teacher. 她在老師的指導下學鋼琴。（作狀語）
He sold the bike under 100 yuan. 他以低於100元的價格把自行車賣了。（作狀語）
The plan is still under discussion. 這項計劃仍在討論之中。（作表語）
These books are for children under ten years of age. 這些書適合10歲以下的兒童閱讀。（作定語）
提示
漢語中的「在……下」並不都能用under，比如：「在陽光下，在月光下，在樹蔭下，在燈光下」就要用in。
She laid her clothes in the sun. 她把衣服放在陽光下曬曬。
They are sitting in the moonlight. 他們在月光下坐著。
Some children are playing in the shade. 一些兒童在樹蔭下玩耍。
She is doing her homework in the lamplight. 她在燈下做作業。
3.below和under的區別：below表示一般的低於或在某物的下面，不一定是在垂直的下面，反義詞是above；under表示在垂直的下方，強調一種直接的垂直上下關係，反義詞是over。

From the hill，we can see a river below us. 從這座小山上，我們能看見下面的一條河。
There is a cat under the chair. 椅子底下有一隻貓。

4. beneath的反義詞是on，指在某物的正下方，並與之接觸。
She put some books beneath the pillow. 她把一些書放在枕頭下面。
The earth felt soft beneath our feet. 我們感覺腳下的土非常柔軟。
He took a knife from beneath his coat. 他從外衣下面拔出一把刀來。
5.underneath具有below和beneath的含義；既可以表示垂直在下而且接觸，也可以表示在某物的下方，不接觸。
Do you find much growing underneath the snow？你發現雪的下面有許多植被嗎？
A stool is underneath the table. 桌子下面有一張凳子。
