4月13日，中老鐵路國際旅客列車開行。北京時間8時8分，中老鐵路首趟國際客運列車從中國昆明駛出，向南而行，開往寮國首都萬象。列車全程經停8個車站，包括鐵路口岸通關時間在內的全程旅行時間為10小時30分。
The China-Laos Railway started cross-border passenger services on Thursday. The first passenger train departed from Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, at 8:08 a.m. (Beijing Time), heading for the Lao capital Vientiane.There are eight stations along the route, and the journey takes 10 and a half hours, including the time spent on going through customs.

【知識點】
中老鐵路國際旅客列車採取朝發夕至運行模式，每日雙向對開各1列，全程經停昆明南、普洱、西雙版納、磨憨、磨丁、琅勃拉邦、萬榮、萬象8個車站，包括鐵路口岸通關時間在內的全程旅行時間均為10小時30分。列車使用動力集中型「復興號」「瀾滄號」動車組開行，最高運行時速160公里，編組9輛，其中動力車、一等座車廂和餐車各1輛，二等座車廂6輛，總定員720人。從昆明南站到萬象站二等座票價為542元，一等座票價為864元。
此外，中老鐵路國際旅客列車與普通旅客列車不同，分為國內段和國外段。國內段實行電子客票，旅客通過身份證購買，憑身份證進站候車。購買跨境車票的旅客需要使用護照，網上購買車票以後，到車站指定窗口換取紙質車票。中老鐵路國際旅客列車採取「兩地兩檢」通關模式。旅客一次出境、入境通關時間各需1.5小時左右。
2021年12月初，中老鐵路全線開通運營，線路全長1000多公里，當年就實現了貨運直通。此次國際旅客列車的開行，對於方便沿線民眾出行、推動兩國旅遊等產業發展、促進兩國經貿往來和共建「一帶一路」高質量發展具有重要意義。
