在距離白宮僅800米的華盛頓哥倫比亞特區第16街上，有一座灰白兩色的五層建築。
這就是在2017年6月正式註冊成立的華盛頓華美博物館（Chinese American Museum in Washington），也是華盛頓唯一一家專門講述華人歷史與文化的博物館。

華盛頓華美博物館的創始人裘菲立坦言，博物館的成立是為了推廣中華文化。「我們想通過展覽和文化活動，向遊客展示博大精深的中華文化，」他說。

同時，有著多年海外生活、工作經歷的裘菲立深知華人在美發展的不易。
因此，他希望藉助博物館講述華人在美的經歷，突出華人對美國發展的貢獻，並增進人們對華裔文化的理解。
Therefore, he founded the museum to tell the story of Chinese people in America, highlight their contributions to the country and improve people's understanding of Chinese-American culture.

五年多來，華盛頓華美博物館一直致力於收集、保存、研究和展示美國華人的歷史、文化；講述和記錄華人在美的故事；傳播中國傳統文化並促進兩國文化交流。
Over the past five years, the museum has been committed to collecting, preserving, researching and displaying the history and culture of Chinese Americans. It has also told and recorded the stories and experiences of Chinese in the US and spread traditional Chinese culture. Meanwhile, it has promoted the exchanges of history and culture between the two countries.
博物館先後舉辦了涉及歷史、繪畫、宗教等15個不同主題的高品質展覽，累計接待了超過10萬名各國遊客。
The museum has held 15 high-quality exhibitions with different themes such as history, painting and religion, receiving more than 100,000 visitors from around the world.
其中，題為《安全港灣：上海，二戰猶太難民的意外故事》（Safe Harbor: Shanghai Surprising Stories of Jewish Refugees in WWII）的特展再現了二戰時期猶太人流亡上海的歷史，受到了美國各界的關注。
文化特展《迷人的針腳與故事》（Enchanting Stitches and Stories）則展出了近百件蘇繡和苗繡作品，許多外國遊客都在參觀後表達了喜愛與讚嘆。

2022年春節期間，中國駐美大使館、華盛頓華美博物館與甘迺迪藝術中心合作舉辦了迎新春彩燈展及中國春節文化展示活動。
據介紹，彩燈展分為熊貓竹林、蝴蝶花園、珊瑚礁群等主題展區，共展出了100多盞造型各異、美輪美奐的彩燈。

活動期間，甘迺迪藝術中心的超大型投影牆上還滾動播出「歡樂春節」、「美麗中國」等主題影片，吸引大批觀眾觀看。
目前，館內正在舉辦由上海道教協會和該館共同籌辦的《道教：追尋天人合一》文化展。
A cultural exhibition titled Taoism: Pursuing Harmony Between Human and Natureis underway at the Museum of Chinese in America in Washington. The exhibition is jointly organized by the museum and the Shanghai Taoist Association.

據悉，該展覽旨在從道教儀式、音樂、建築等方面展示中國道教文化，讓參觀者感受到其獨特魅力。展品包括道袍、手繪靈符、書法、樂器，以及三清尊神畫像等。
The exhibition is designed to showcase Taoist culture in China through displays of several themes including Taoist music, Taoist rituals and Taoist architecture and enable visitors to experience the charms of Taoism.
Exhibits include Taoist robes, handpainted talismans, calligraphy, musical instruments and portraits of the three Gods from the Sanqing Hall, the highest deity of Taoism.
除了各類展覽，華盛頓華美博物館主辦了「歷史上的華裔美國女性」研討會、華裔企業家研討會、中美學生繪畫比賽等活動。

該博物館還創立了「金燈籠」獎（Gold Lantern Awards ），以表彰具有領導力、影響力和社會責任感的傑出華人。

首屆「金燈籠」獎頒獎典禮於2022年5月3日在華盛頓特區的瑞吉酒店內舉行。獲獎者包括烹飪歷史學家Grace Young、作曲家Christopher Tin、跨境電商平台Yes She May執行長徐梅以及熊貓餐飲集團創始人程正昌和蔣佩琪夫婦。他們在各自的領域取得了令人矚目的成就，為華人團體在美發展做出了不可磨滅的貢獻。
根據計劃，華盛頓華美博物館今年還將籌辦旗袍展、佛教文化藝術展、李昌鈺博士事跡展等。
「我一直相信，人類文明是個大家庭，全世界各個民族的文化都應該被尊重。以後也許我們有機會通過博物館把美國文化帶到中國來展出，通過文化交流，加強兩國人民之間的互動，增進兩國友好。」裘菲立說。
"I always believe that human civilization is like a big family, and the culture of every nation in the world should be respected. Maybe in the future, we will have the opportunity to show American culture to Chinese people via the museum." Qiu said.
Cultural exchanges like this will help strengthen communication between people from the two countries and enhance friendly relations, Qiu said.
未來，華美博物館將繼續探尋新方向，以不同主題的線上線下活動，幫助傳播中華文化，記錄和講述華人在美的精彩故事。
