在英文合同中表達附件、附錄的常用詞彙有exhibit, schedule, Annex, Appendix , Attachment
Exhibit:
1. A document, record, or other tangible object formally introduced as evidence in court.
展示證據，如向法院、仲裁員等提交的作為證據的文件或物品；向證人出示的、證人在作證過程中提到的文件或物品。
2. A document attached to and made part of a pleading, motion, contract, or other instrument.
在提出申請或進行辯護時提出的附於起訴狀、答辯狀等的證明文件。
此外，該詞還有「陳列品、展覽物」的含義。
Schedule:
A written list or inventory; especially a statement that is attached to a document and that gives a detailed showing of the matters referred to in the document.
附件；清單。指附於法律、法規、契約、稅單等文件之後的一個附頁，用於詳細補充主要文件的內容。
此外，該詞還有「時間表、進度表、計劃表」的含義。
Annex (plural annexes):
Something that is attached, such as document to a report or an addition to a building.
(1) 附加物；附件；附錄 (2) 附屬建築物
作動詞時，有「附加、附帶、添加」之義，將一個較小的或具有從屬性的實物附屬於另一個較大的或更具有重要性的事物上。此外還需注意的一點是，該詞作名詞和動詞時發音有所不同
Appendix (plural appendices):
1. A supplementary document attached to the end of a writing
附錄；附件；補遺
指附在文件末尾後的補充性文件。
在非法律、醫學背景下使用該詞，大多是指書或文章的附錄，可參考牛津、朗文中的釋義: a part at the end of a book containing additional information。寫論文時，附在主體文章後面的資料可稱為appendix/appendices。在解剖學中，該詞指人的闌尾，此時複數形式通常用appendixes，而不是appendices。
2. English law. A volume that contains material documents and other evidence presented in a lower court. The volume is used by the House of Lords or Privy Council when functioning as an appellate tribunal.
在英國樞密院和上議院審判上訴案件的訴訟程序中，附件指包含了下級法院所使用的有決定性影響的文件或其他證據並予以提交的卷宗。
Attachment:
The act of affixing or connecting; something (as a document) that is affixed or connected to something else.
附加；附屬
電子郵件的「附件」通常都用attachment表示，個人感覺法律文件的「附件」或「附錄」似乎很少用這個詞。
此外，該詞在其他情況下還有「扣押（令）、拘禁（令）、擔保權益的發生」的含義
1. The seizing of a person’s property to secure a judgment or to be sold in satisfaction of a judgment.
指扣押某人的財產以擔保將來判決能得到履行，或者將扣押的財產變賣以執行判決。
2. The arrest of a person who either is in contempt of court or is to be held as security for the payment of a judgment.
指對不服從法院判決、命令或有其他藐視法庭行為者給予的處罰，或者將某人拘禁以保證其能夠履行判決。
3. A writ ordering legal seizure of a property (esp. to satisfy a creditor’s claim) or of a person.
指令依法扣押財產或拘禁人身的令狀，也稱writ of attachment。
4. The creation of a security interest in property, occurring when the debtor agrees to the security, receives value from the secured party, and obtains rights in the collateral.
根據美國《統一商法典》第9-203條，當債務人同意擔保、從被擔保方取得代價以及債務人取得擔保物的權利時，即在該財產上產生擔保權益。它與擔保權益的生效(perfection)相區別。
Attachment在非法律背景下應用時也有諸多不同含義，可參考牛津、朗文等英語詞典，不過都或多或少與「附加、連接」有關。
「附件」或「附錄」這兩個詞在中文中的解釋區別是：
附錄：
附在正文後面與正文有關的文章或參考資料。例句：詞典正文後面有五種附錄。（與appendix的含義相近）
附件：
1. 隨同主要文件一同制定的文件。（與exhibit的第二個含義較接近）
2. 隨同文件發出的有關的文件或物品。
3. 組成機器、器械的某些零件或部件；機器、器械成品附帶的零件或部件。（attachment作「機器的附件、附加裝置、附屬物」講時與該釋義相一致）
exhibit、schedule和attachment與「附件」的含義相近，appendix更常被譯為「附錄」，annex譯為「附錄」「附件」皆可。
appendix是放在合同末尾的補充資料集合。
exhibit是對合同、案件摘要或其他提交法庭的內容的補充。但是，合同的補充資料在英國常稱 appendices，在美國常稱 exhibit。不過，在這兩個國家中，exhibits更常用於辯護，因為此類補充資料在稍後的判決中會用作 exhibits。
annex表示記錄或其他文件附加的內容。實際使用中，該詞通常可以與 appendix 和 exhibit. 互換。但是，在大多數的法律協議中，annex 不如 appendix 和 exhibit 常用，例外情況是條約/協定或類似的具有國際效力的文件。在這些例外情況下，annex 常用於表示條約/協定的補充資料。
attachment也可以表示附加到主文件的事物或文件。但是，這個詞現在更常用於表示電子郵件的附加文件，這種附加文件可以獨立於郵件本身，由收件人打開。
schedule通常表示本來可以在主合同內，但是卻被移動到了末尾，原因通常是這些schedule長度較長，移動到末尾可以讓主合同更清晰和簡潔。因此，schedules 通常被認為是主合同的一部分，有時候需要雙方單獨簽署。
